Arizona – Sonora Desert Museum

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a 98-acre Museum and Zoo founded in 1952 and located in Tucson, Arizona. It contains a Museum and two miles of walking paths on 21 acres of this property, and is one of the most visited attractions in Tucson. The facility combines the attractions of a Zoo, Museum, and Botanical Garden, with a focus is the plants and animals that live in the Sonoran Desert, and it was a pioneer in the creation of naturalistic enclosures for its animals. This location is about 7 minutes from the Saguaro National Park Red Hills (west district) visitor center which also has a penny machine.

Hours of operation: October through May: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Summer Hours: June through September: 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. Open for Cool Summer Nights on Saturdays: check website.
Plenty of free parking.

Machine 1 (Placed 10/12) is located right outside of gift shop near the entrance. Cost to press, 51¢ each design. Designs all have 'Arizona - Sonora Desert Museum' on them:
1) (V) Sitting mountain lion with 'Mountain Lion'.
2) (H) Gila monster next to prickly pear cactus with 'Gila Monster'.
3) (H) Coiled rattlesnake facing right with 'Rattlesnake'.
4) (H) Hummingbird hovering in front of a flower with 'Hummingbird'.

5/28/2026 - Machine inside right after entering. Staff not very friendly and apprehensive letting us in without paying but eventually did.
Rolls great.
Wasn’t able to access the gift shop to check for reduced albums though. AR
