The O.K. Corral was originally a livery and·horse corral from 1879 to about 1888 in the mining boomtown of Tombstone, Arizona Territory. Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, the shoot out actually took place in a narrow lot six doors west of the rear entrance to the corral.
The 1957 film Gunfight at the O.K. Corral made the shootout famous and the corral became fixed in the public's mind as the location of the altercation. The corral is currently marketed and advertised as the location of the shootout, and visitors can pay to see a reenactment of the gunfight.
At the O.K. Corral Gunfight Site you can see Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, Virgil and Morgan Earp fight the McLaurys and Clantons in daily reenactments, stand beside life-size figures of the eight gunfighters located on the very spot where the Gunfight began, according to a map on display drawn by Wyatt Earp himself, and hear what caused the 30-second showdown that left three cowboys dead, Virgil and Morgan Earp wounded.
You can also tour C.S. Fly's Photo Gallery to see his world-famous photos of the Apache warrior Geronimo, and his historic photos of 1880s Tombstone life.
