This machine is no longer here. The listing stays up because collectors come back years later to check whether the one they remember was real.

From collectors

This was an exhibition of the history of Oxford University. There was a sit-down ride on 3 levels with scenes of Oxford from Medieval to modern days; historic events and famous people linked with the University. 24 articulated, electric powered cars modelled on student desks moved along at walking pace, with a commentary through earphones lasting 25+ minutes, in 6 languages and with smells & sounds en route. Owned by Heritage Projects Ltd, who also run York's Jorvik Centre and Portsmouth's Spinnaker. The exihibition & ride closed down in October 2007, after 20 years.

11/19/08: Penny machine is gone.

Only 1 design, of a bicycle rider wearing gown and cap (h). Text: 'The Oxford Story' -the 'O' of Oxford forming a wheel of the cycle.
