The museum's key display is the Civil War locomotive "The General." That locomotive was stolen in 1862 by Union raiders in an attempt to sabotage key railroad tracks and telegraph communications between Atlanta, Georgia, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. The locomotive was hijacked at the site of the current museum, and the military operation was chronicled in the Disney movie "The Great Locomotive Chase" as well as Buster Keaton's silent film "The General." ~jnm The 1-die machine is in the gift shop next to the register. The gift shop also sells passport-style penny books for collectors.

Design is:
1) "The Famous General / Kennesaw (Big Shanty) GA." Steam engine.

If you ask at the ticket booth, you can get in to the Gift Shop without a ticket (adult admission is normally $7.50). Parking is free.
