Serafino's Bar & Souvenirs is a delightful gem that offers more than just a meal; it’s an experience! Nestled in the scenic area of Brunate, this charming spot is perfect for breakfast or a light snack while you wait for the Funicular.
Hours of operation: Monday through Saturday 09.00 (9:00 am) to 19.00 (7:00 pm), Sunday 10.00 (10:00 am) to 19.00 (7:00 pm). Machine may be there 24/7: I couldn't verify that, but the machines were still there after 7:00 pm when i visited.
Admission: Free admission to machine. You may want to ride the Funicular up to the area as it's a VERY steep and long walk to this area. The Funicular connects Como to Brunate. The address for the lower level entrance to the Funicular is Piazza Alcide de Gasperi, 4 Como, Italy. A round trip ticket is €7.20. The Funicular runs from 6:00 am to Midnight. No parking nearby.
Machine 1 is outside across from the big gears in the floor between Serafino's Bar & Souvenirs and the upper level back exit/entrance to the Funicular. Cost to press: €1.05 each design (€1 coin and a 5 Euro cent coin). Designs all have "MC" at the catch notch and a beaded border with 'Lago di Como':
1) (H) Funicular going up tracks with 'Funicolare Brunate'.
2) (V) Outline of Lake Como next to a compass with 'Brunate'.
3) (V) Faro Lighthouse (Lighthouse dedicated to Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery) with 'Faro Voltiano'.
4) (H) A Lucia (traditional boat of Lake Como) with 'Lucia'.
Token Machine 1 is next to the eurocent machine. Cost to dispense: €2.(€2 coin only). Design:
1) Outline of Lake Como, Como coat of arms, Battelli passenger ferry, Tempio Voltiano, Lucia boat and Duomo di Como with 'Lago di Como'.

Another eurocent machine is an 8 minute walk from the lower level Funicular to the main pier in Como at a Tabacchi store.
