From collectors

Itasca is the oldest state park in Minnesota and the second oldest in the United States. It is named after its lake, which serves as the beginning place for the Mississippi River. During the summer, residents come here to hike, camp, fish, and explore Itasca's unique habitat. The Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center, which contains interactive, outdoor displays about the river, is a must-see for history aficionados. Spend the day at the beach or picnic area, then view the stars in the evening. In the winter, arrange your visit during the park's candlelight event and warm up around a campfire with marshmallows and hot beverages.

Park parking fee is $7.
