Adventure Aquarium (formerly New Jersey State Aquarium)

The aquarium is between Federal Street and Mickle Boulevard in Camden, New Jersey -- on the east bank of the Delaware River in Camden directly across from Penn's Landing in Philadelphia.

The machines are sometimes moved about the aquarium. All 4 design penny designs cost $1.00 each and are preloaded with Zinc pennies.

Machines take $1 bills - no quarters. No pennies needed as the machines are filled with zinc pennies.

Machine 8 (2016) Gift Shop exit. All cost $1.00 each and are preloaded with Zinc pennies. Designs are:

Machine 9 (2016) Hippo Haven just before the Shark Realm entrance. All cost $1.00 each and are preloaded with Zinc pennies. Designs are:

Machine 10 (2016) Gift Shop Exit. All cost $1.00 each and are preloaded with Zinc pennies. Designs are:

Machine 11 (2016) On level one (zone E) In the concessions section right next to the escalator. All cost $1.00 each and are preloaded with Zinc pennies. Designs are:

4) 'Philly', skyline

Machine 12 (2019) Located in Rotunda (Zone B) near the door for the beer garden. $1.00 each or all 8 for $5.00. designs are:

6) Nurse Shark
7) Snake Necked Turtle
8) Zebra Shark

Token Machine 3: Located near Touch-A-Shark (Zone A). All designs have AAQ logo on the reverse. $5 each or 4 for $15.

1/16: 4 new Pennyman 4 design hand crank machines (8 through 11) were installed here. The other (4 through 7) were retired. GSY

8/15/19: Machine 12 installed.

7/11/25: The machines will not accept prepaid credit cards. I tried a few 3 different types in each machine - all rejected during "authorization" - I called each of the cards and they said no attempts were made to process a transaction so it appears to be the process on the machine side.

8/12/26 Machine 9-11 worked great with Debit card. I couldn’t find machine 8 or machine 12, but I also couldn’t find the Beer Garden 12 was supposed to be near. I didn’t see that 8 was supposed to be next to 10 so I didn’t think to ask about it though.

9/4/26 Machine 12 was removed because it could not authorize credit card payments. I was told that by an employee up near the gift shop. We told the employee that the token machine that was in the area would not authorize credit cards either. (Could it be location/ WIFI or other issue?) He said he would report it. JD
