Crumlin Road Gaol

HMP Belfast, also known as Crumlin Road Gaol, is a former prison situated on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is the only Victorian era prison remaining in Northern Ireland. It is popularly known as the Crum. The Northern Ireland Environment Agency has given it a grade A listed building status because of its architectural and historical significance. The Crumlin Road Courthouse, which is currently derelict, stands opposite the Gaol. A tunnel under the main road connects the two buildings and was used to transport the prisoners to the courthouse. 17 prisoners were hanged here. The Crumlin Road Gaol dates back to 1845 and closed its doors as a working prison in 1996. After extensive renovations the Gaol has re-opened for public tours.

Open seven days per week the first tour is 10:00am with the last tour at 4:30pm (16:30). The tour duration is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Admission fees are: Adults: £8.50, Children: £6.50 (5-15yrs), Concession: £7.00, Family: £25.00 (2 Adults & 2 Children).
