First established on May 23,1905 as the Royal Coaches Museum, the museum houses historic horse-drawn coaches and carriages that belonged to the royal houses of Portugal from the 16th to the 19th century.
Hours of operation: Tuesday through Sunday 10.00 (10:00 am) to ?18.00 (6:00 pm), Closed Mondays, January 1st, May 1st, Easter Sunday, June 13rd, December 24th and 25th. Plenty of public parking.
Admission: General €15, Senior citizens aged 65 or over €7.50, under 12 years Free. You do not have to pay admission to access this token machine.
Token Machine 1: is inside the entry lobby. Cost to dispense: €2 each design (Machine accepts €2 coin, €1 coins, €.50 coins, €.20 coins or €.10 coins. Machine does not give change). Designs:
1) Obverse: (Gold color) The Ocean coach with 'Museu Nacional dos Coches Coche dos Oceanos'.
2) Obverse: (Silver color) Coach for Philip II with 'Museu Nacional dos Coches Coche de Filipe II'.
Reverse for both tokens: Eight stars surrounding an outline of the country of Portugal with 'National Tokens Portuguese Heritage'.
